Can you tell us a little about yourself and where you are from?

My name is Erica N. Simmons. I’m 26 years old. I was born in Killeen, Texas, raised in Beaufort, SC. I’m the 4th child out of 5. I am a newly recording artist. Business owner of Elegance N’ Style.

Can you tell us about your family and growing up in your household?

I am the 4th child out of 5. I’m the oldest girl. Growing up in a sanctified strict household we had our tough moments as well as good days. My family always encourage me to do the best at everything I do. I grew up always singing in the house. None of my family sings, so my gift was truly a gift from God. 


Did you attend/graduate college? What school? What did you get your degree in?

I attended college (Beaufort technical college of the low country) and (ashford university) but didn’t complete. Wanted to study Radiology/healthcare administration 


What’s your favorite thing to do when you have some time off? 

I love to sew. I love creating things. 


What’s one word you would use to describe yourself? Why? 

Resilient. I suffered and withstood many things that would break others to pieces. 

Been through a lot that shook me but it didn’t break me. 



THE MUSIC...




Can you tell us about your music and what made you get started?

My music is a gospel genre. I always loved gospel growing up I always had a dream to record my own music. I started writing around my elementary days. I would hear different melodies and words and I would write them down and sing them to my mom or around the house. I had different opportunities to record but it always felt it wasn’t the right moment. Soon as 2020 came in the Lord spoke and said the time is now. 

What first got you into music?

I was always into as long as I can remember. Music has been an escape into another world for me. 


Who inspired you to make music?

Nobody in particular it’s just been always be instilled in me.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Gospel, inspirational, encouragement to people of all ages and all backgrounds

What is your creative process like?

Cooperating what I’ve been through and experiencing and making songs that walk hand and hand with reality and where God is taking me. Hearing what God speaks is my motivation.

Tasha Cobbs, Shana Wilson-Williams 

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

Tasha Cobbs 



What is one message you would give to your fans?

Never limit yourself from the future because of the affects of the past. 

You have enough left in to try again and make yourself better than you were. Don’t stop creating, believing, dreaming. 

Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

I do, I would sing crazy songs. Whatever comes to mind. 

What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

Continuing my passion for sewing and advancing in business. 

Where have you performed? 

I’ve performed in talent shows, galas, numerous of church events. 

Do you have any upcoming shows?

No 

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

It has impacted tremendously because I believe word of mouth is your best advertisement. The fact people will share and listen to your music and how much it can reach  is mind blowing to anyone’s career. 

Which famous musicians do you admire?

Don’t really have one 

What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?

I’ve gotten in trouble for my mouth. I tend to say what I feel. lol 

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

The best advice I’ve given is “Just be you” Nobody can’t beat you at being you. 

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

I would change the expectations of the people. Remove all the stigmas, the image, the thought of who they “think” you should be and just be yourself. 

What’s next for you?

Just continuing on making an impact and making dreams come true. Soon I’ll be writing a book.
